The dental insurance industry is such a unique niche market. There is not an actual school, university, or even trade school that one can attend to learn dental insurance specifically. Medical billing tends to have more Healthcare certifications and degrees qualifying those in the medical field.

The dental field is however limited in the field of study and is ultimately limited to industry experts for training. 

Is there a Dental Insurance Certification?

Unfortunately, there is no requirement, certification, or degree necessary to process dental claims.

Most dental practice business team members have limited experience and knowledge in the area of dental coding and dental claim administration. By limited experience, one may have been in the industry for 15, 20, 25+ years however had no formal training when it comes to understanding the ins and outs of dental insurance.

They may have the knowledge to get claims paid for their office, but limited experience in that particular office or two to five offices they may have worked in over their career.

The dental insurance industry is known for its self taught team members who have learned through trial and error and/or prior experiences with previous team members.
