Angela Rakestraw is our OMS Business Unit Manager at Dental Claim Support (DCS) — a full-service dental revenue cycle management provider that helps dental businesses like yours streamline their administrative processes to improve their cash flow.
Angela manages our oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMS) department at DCS: A unit dedicated to the specialty of oral surgery billing. She was initially hired by DCS to manage the OMS practices we served, and as our OMS client base continued to grow, Angela moved up to manage the entire department.

Meet Angela Rakestraw, OMS Business Unit Manager at DCS
Angela is from Tupelo, Mississippi, and lives there currently with her husband.
She got her start in the oral surgery field 20 years ago at the front desk of an OMS office. She took on different positions at that office until she landed on her passion: Insurance billing. 
Soon after, Angela leapt into the hard work hard of obtaining Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and Certified Professional Billing (CPB) certifications. Then, as if that weren’t enough to evolve her expertise in OMS billing, she also obtained a Certification in Plastics and Reconstruction Coding (CPRC) to specialize in plastics and reconstructive surgery coding.
Angela continues to keep her certifications active, and she also stays current on the ever-changing coding and billing guidelines.
In 2020, she began working for DCS as a subcontractor specializing in OMS billing. She has spent three years building out the OMS department, and became the OMS Business Unit Manager in August 2023. When I asked Angela about her time with DCS, she said —
“I am very honored to be a part of the growth with DCS. I am currently growing our Oral Surgery Business Unit. This is such a huge endeavor and opens so many avenues for us at DCS to help more practices along the way. I love being able to bring on a practice to be a part of their growth as well.” —Angela Rakestraw
When she’s not serving our OMS customers, Angela loves spending time with her husband and family. She has a daughter and son-in-law that they are close with, and three beautiful granddaughters. She enjoys traveling, playing golf, and rooting for the Ole Miss Rebel football team.

I also asked Angela about her goals at DCS, and her enthusiasm was contagious — and her vision of our future is exciting. Here’s what she said:
“I would love to further expand the Oral Surgery Business Unit to provide full RCM services. I think this is very achievable as we continue to grow this specialized area. I would love to expand on our Insurance Billing and Medical & Dental Credentialing services, as well as refine our Insurance Verification and Patient Billing services to be able to relieve these stresses from each practice while allowing that practice to grow.” —Angela Rakestraw
DCS started in 2012 as just an insurance billing provider, but since then, we have expanded our offering to a full suite of revenue cycle management (RCM) services — credentialing, patient schedule, insurance and patient billing, and more.
Oral surgery practices would certainly benefit from end-to-end RCM services, as their challenges are similar to private dental practices but become more complicated with the addition of medical insurance.
Angela has been instrumental in creating the OMS Unit at DCS, and we continue to be in awe of her expertise on such a challenging insurance billing topic.
